Your Questions Answered

We often get asked questions from parents and carers interested in finding out more about Exemplar maths, English and reading programmes.
We understand that your time is precious, so to help you make the best use of your time we’ve made a list of Frequently Asked Questions below.

Exemplar is a highly structured, user friendly, online teaching system specifically created to support the UK National Curriculum.

Exemplar provides a genuine and cost-effective solution for parents to the challenge of meeting and fulfilling their child’s individual educational needs, particularly in numeracy & literacy.

Exemplar’s unique initial assessment process identifies each child’s current ability level (based upon what they actually know and don’t know), from which, their very own personalised Study Plan is created, tailored to meet their individual needs.

Exemplar then uses short video tutorials to teach each lesson, which is taught in the exact same way your children are taught in school, accessed online and from the comfort of your own home.

Exemplar provides extra supportive worksheets to further consolidate the teaching and monitors a complete and thorough understanding of each lesson, before moving onto the next.

Exemplar also provides ‘real-time’ direct access to teacher help via telephone on a freephone number or through our ‘Silverboard’ virtual classroom.

Exemplar is supported by a complete management and reporting system, for both students and parents, so that progress can be totally monitored and easily accessed.

Exemplar is all about engaging, educating and assisting children, along the path to academic success, to be the very best they can be, whatever that level may be, without any pressure or embarrassment.

At Exemplar we know every parent wants to help their child to perform well and enjoy school, but we also know for many, academic success doesn’t always come easily… Exemplar really can help.

The cost of the programme varies from family to family. The reason for this is that each programme is structured around each family’s particular circumstances. Therefore depending on the number of children in the family, their ages, current ability levels and how much, or little, of the programme is relevant for each family, the costs will vary quite considerably.

Whilst families can start as low as just over £13.20 per week, as a general guide, you’ll find most families are paying somewhere between £16 and £17 per week – this includes both Maths and English – for all the children in the family – this is not the cost per child.

Families have the choice to purchase their programme outright, or alternatively, may choose the monthly subscription option.

If you have done some research, you will have already discovered that private tutors all cost at least £20 per hour, per subject, per child. So, if you have two children needing help with Maths and English, you can very quickly see how cost-effective the Exemplar programme is.

Yes, Exemplar is 100% aligned with the National Curriculum. Exemplar can help parents understand in more detail the content and practices of the education system, SATS and the National Curriculum in both primary and secondary schools across the UK.

Exemplar is very different because it can not only provide exactly what a private tutor can provide but it can deliver much, much more… and at a fraction of the cost!

Exemplar is accessible as a complete year group of teaching, lessons, exams and support up front.

Exemplar will be available to you 24 hours a day, every day, for all the children in your family to use again and again, as much as they need to and in the comfort and privacy of your own home.

We recognise that very few parents may be able to afford this level of support from a private tutor.

Other benefits that Exemplar provides:

  • Totally fits in with family life
  • 100% UK National Curriculum based
  • Can help develop parents knowledge on teaching methods used in schools today
  • Boosts your children’s confidence and enthusiasm for school work
  • Exemplar is based on your children’s specific strengths and weaknesses
  • Builds a solid foundation for academic success
  • Lets your children work at their own pace with no peer pressure
  • Provides teacher support when its needed most

Exemplar is year topic and group based and contains everything your child would cover in any specific year of school. Exemplar combines both multiple topics and year groups together to create a tailored programme based upon your child’s individual strengths and weaknesses and would normally take them through to a specific Key Stage or to GCSE.

The length of time it takes to complete a Exemplar programme is, of course, dependant on how many topics and year groups you choose to purchase. However, this is again dependent on each family’s particular circumstances and will vary considerably depending on the number of children in a family, their ages and current achievement levels.

Yes, if you purchase Exemplar outright it is yours to use, as you feel appropriate, although we would strongly recommend introducing a regular study routine for each child to get the very best from your Exemplar programme.

Children should, on average, watch one or two lessons a week, but if they need to stop for a brief period that’s fine. Although, please remember that your Exemplar is specifically there to help your children improve and ultimately reach their full learning potential.

If you have chosen the Exemplar subscription option then, subject to the notice period, you can completely stop using it and then re-start again subject to your requirements, but again we would stress that Exemplar is specifically there to help children improve and ultimately reach their full learning potential and erratic study habits would be detrimental to the effects of any tuition provided.

Our Course Advisors explain everything about Exemplar extremely clearly and accurately as part of the initial assessment visit, including how it all works, which parts would be suitable for the family, the costs and other alternative options.

YES if you want to and NO if you don’t. Many parents choose to watch the Exemplar lessons with their children but older children can watch the lessons and complete the exercises on their own.

You do not NEED to help your child with Exemplar as the unique learning management system will do all the marking, monitoring and re-scheduling of work for your child and report back to you fully with all the progress being made.

However, it is paramount that you continually encourage your children to use Exemplar, which is why the reporting system is so easy for parents to access and use,

Being able to quickly and easily keep track of your children’s progress and provide them with the support and praise they will thrive on, you will help boost your children’s confidence and motivate them to move onto the next lesson.

These days, parents often seek additional private tuition or further support for their children and from time to time approach the school for guidance. Many schools have passed on information about Exemplar, which they feel may be helpful to some parents.

Of course you can. However, as Exemplar uses audio visual teaching methods combined with cutting edge technology to deliver the teaching and support direct to your family home, our advice is always that it really needs to be seen and experienced first hand in order to be certain that it is right for you and your family.

Rest assured, our trained and professional Course Advisors can visit at a time of convenience for you and can demonstrate and explain Exemplar in the completely pressure free environment of your own home.
